B i o g r a p h y

Canadian mezzo-soprano, Christine Browne-Munz, is a recent transplant to the New York City area. She is available for booking. 

 

While living in the DC metro area, she frequently performed with opera companies such as Opera on Tap, The In Series, Opera NOVA, and Opera Camerata. Roles include Ježibaba (Rusalka), Marta (Iolanta), Teresa (La sonnambula), Third Lady (The Magic Flute), Charlotte (A Little Night Music), and Witch (Hansel and Gretel). While studying at the University of Maryland, Christine performed as an ensemble member for the Maryland Opera Studio’s L'enfant et les sortileges, Idomeneo, La Bohème, Die Zauberflöte, Miss Havisham's Fire, and Amelia al ballo. 

 

Christine has had the opportunity to premier several new works, including the role of Elizabeth Flagg (Alice Flagg).  Christine has performed various concert works such as the mezzo solos in Duruflé’s Requiem, Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky, and Handel’s Messiah. 

 

Christine is an in-demand cantor, concert soloist, and choral ringer; she is currently the Principal Cantor and Alto Section Leader at the Oratory Church of St. Boniface in Brooklyn, NY. In DC, she was a frequent sub at Church of the Epiphany, Church of the Little Flower, The National Cathedral, and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
