Canadian - American Mezzo Soprano, Christine Browne-Munz, is based in Brooklyn, New York.

With a background in piano and jazz trumpet, she is a versatile and sought-after mezzo soloist and choral ringer in the New York area. In particular, she is known for her rich, captivating voice, low coloratura, and musicality that brings emotion and depth to every piece she sings. Due to her love of improvisation and ornamentation, she specializes in baroque and bel canto repertoire.

Recent solo engagements include Mozart’s RequiemVespers, & Great Mass in C Minor, Händel’s Dixit Dominus & Te Deum, Vivaldi’s Gloria & Dixit Dominus, and Bach’s Mass in G Minor & Cantatas BWV 2 & 5. Additionally, last season she accompanied the Brooklyn Ballet as part of a solo quintet of Bach’s Jesu, meine freude

Christine considers herself fortunate to have had the opportunity to collaborate with living composers. At the University of Maryland, she premiered William Kenlon’s song cycle Paroles de Jacques Prévert. As part of the DC chapter of Opera on Tap’s 2020 New Works Festival, she performed works by Sean Pflueger and Michael Oberhauser. Additionally, as part of the Kennedy Center’s Page to Stage Festival, Christine premiered the role of Elizabeth Flagg, from Joseph Kaz’s opera Alice Flagg.

As a collaborator, Christine is a founding member of the Khôra Consort and a regular participant with the Bloom Sound Collective. This season, the Khôra Consort will be giving the New York premiere of William Averitt’s Black Pierrot. Additionally, she will be performing excerpts from Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire.

Christine obtained a Bachelor of Music from the University of Maryland (summa cum laude) where she studied with Delores Ziegler. She holds an MBA from the Zicklin School of Business, City University of New York. She is also an improv actor and soccer player.

Alice’s brother and mother found his profession most unsuitable, and her line, “He’s a lumberjack,” was one that stuck in audience members’ minds.
